Hello My Dear
Furry Friend,
I just love it when mommie goes on short trips to nearby
travel destinations … you know, a getaway place that
is within say a 2 hour drive of where we live. This week
we went to Victoria.
Victoria makes an excellent weekend getaway – it’s a great
place for pet parents as there is so much to do, great hotels,
charming bed and breakfasts, restaurants to suit everyone,
and the scenery! Perched on the toe point of Vancouver Island,
Victoria is more than just an ocean side city --- it is the capital
of British Columbia and is the lookout window to the great
Pacific Ocean! That means lots of lovely smells carried on
the currents and winds …. Ohh! I just love the exotic smells
carried from afar!
We stayed at the very beautiful Amethyst
Inn which goes back
not to the last century, but the one before! Can you imagine
to the eighteen hundreds! Of course everything is fully restored
and you imagine what life must have been like for the privileged
in those pioneer days! Mommie was visiting on business which
meant that I could not tag along with her everywhere. She did
the right thing (always does, that’s why I love her so much).
She booked a day of play for me with Bob
and Julie Butler .
They run an awesome doggie day care service.
Early in the morning I got picked up in their posh doggie taxi
and taken to Cadboro Bay where they live … oh, the place is to die
for!
I got to make new friends, Molly, Baily and Allie the resident
dogs who were most hospitable I must say. What a yard! I
was all ready for a day of romping and playing ball, when off
we went, on a walk, right by the crashing surf that pounds the
nearby shoreline. There were lots of seagulls to chase, and sticks
to
retrieve, and sand to dig --- I don’t know how long we were
gone, but oh, the nice snuggly
bed that was waiting for me
when we returned was soooo comfortable to curl up in for a
nice afternoon snooze. I just simply had to check if it was
one from my boutique ---it
was that good! My dear pooch pal,
make sure your parents book you in for treats like this when
on the road. It is so much fun!

Doggie Tip for Pet Parents
Just like humans, we doggies need to have our ears kept clean.
The friendly vet that you take your pooch to usually does that as
part of the checkup.
Now doggies with big floppy ears need to get some extra attention.
The flap covers the ear canal and so provides a warm and
welcome refuge for all sorts of germs. Perfect conditions for
nasty infections. It really makes us miserable but how can we
tell you?
A good way to prevent ear infections is to use a mild solution of
water and tee tree oil. Just dip a soft cloth into the solution
and gently cleanse your puppy’s ears. Don’t be afraid to go
deep into the canal area --- but no so deep that it hurts!
If you notice that your dog is shaking his head frequently, it is
a
sign that an ear infection may have set in. This is no time for
home remedies, set an appointment with your doggie’s vet right
away.
