WOOF!  HAPPY EASTER!

May the Easter Beagle bring you lots of yummy treats!

Don’t you just love Easter?  To me it means warmer weather which in turn means more time outdoors and that spells FUN!

Barking of FUN ... I am so excited as mommie and I are heading south to visit with friends and enjoy some Easter celebrating.  Now going south just means going across the border and a short drive to Seattle, but because we are crossing the border, I had to get all my shots up to date.  Ouch!  I hate going to the vet but I know that it is for my safety and now I am all “legal”.  So if travel to a different country is in your plans in the future, make sure your pooch has the right vaccinations and don’t forget to take the certificate with you.

Eavesdropping on mommie’s phone conversations I know that an Easter Egg Hunt is in the works which of course makes me think of Snoopy --- my idol!  Remember how Snoopy played the part of the Easter Bunny, but then of course, it was the  Easter Beagle,   Can you just see the cartoon where Snoopy is happy dancing to that special Charlie Brown tune, giving away colored Easter eggs to everyone? Good ole’ Snoopy!

doggie raincoatEaster.  Its not just pet parents that put on new finery – it’s a good time to get your furry friend a new outfit too.    Here in the Pacific Northwest we have a lot of rain, so mommie treated me to a new raincoat which we’ll tuck into our bag just in case it rains.  I really like this one because when it rains you need to be seen, and the stripes on this raincoat make me more visible to traffic.  Also, when we get home, there isn’t as much of me to dry – just the feet and the tummy and that dries much quicker than the rest of my furry coat.

Whatdog collar I really like is the new lead and collar set which I will wear at the Easter Egg Hunt - here take a look. Orange is such a cool and fashionable color this spring.  It looks especially  great on dark furred dogs, and I’ll wrestle  you to a bone or two, compliments will be flying in our direction …. Me in my orange dog dot lead and collar ensemble and mommie in her new orange sweater!  I mean, now that’s strutting out in style!

Choosing the Right Collar for Your Puppy

Guest Columnist – Stephanie Hetu

Whether the worry is to teach your dog or pass on an individuality to it, dog collars and straps represent a vital role. Dog collars are available in a selection of forms, dimensions and fashions, and are much of a style statement these days. A dog collar may well be a reprieve for your puppy if, God forbid, it runs away from your home.

With such an extensive selection of dog collars to be had, opting for the appropriate one for your puppy can be to a certain extent nerve racking. The collar ought to be chosen depending upon your choices and your puppy’s behavior. For a rather docile puppy, a collar made up of soft cloth is fairly suitable. On the other hand, a stubborn puppy has to be restricted by a fast jerk of a spiked collar. A dog trainer may give you a hand in making the appropriate selection of a dog collar for your loyal canine buddy.

The buckle range is mainly the regular sort of dog collar. A broad selection of cloth may be used to make up a buckle collar, featuring a variety of colors and designs. Your puppy’s name may be stitched on top of the collar for recognition reasons. Buckle collar is made up of a sequence of spaced holes, and the buckle is fixed firmly to arrive at the desired size.

Buckle collar is the most standard type, which can be improved to make sure of additional protection for the puppy. For example, breakaway collars are planned to pull to pieces under excessive trauma. A few collar styles are set with discharge flaps that make sure of a quick taking away of the collar, comparative to the usual buckle style. Such differences may perhaps help out to avoid your puppy from gasping in unexpected state of affairs.

One more collar style is a prong collar, which is fairly of assistance if your puppy is to a certain extent stiff and usually pulls hard while on leash. A prong collar has vertical metal prongs that are spaced in an even way in the region of the inside of the collar. Upon tugging the attached strap, the prongs poke your puppy's neck, in this manner slowing down its disorderly actions. The expression "prong collar" does sound as a bit unsafe for your canine. Nevertheless, when used properly, prong collars by no means cause any harm to the puppy, and are a great deal safer than even other styles of dog collars.

French BulldogsMember Spotlight

Our spotlight this time is not on one, nor on two, but on four, yes, FOUR adorable French Bulldogs, and oh, yes, but of course their names are Cartier, Loulou, Polo and Coco … immediately we know that their parents have the je ne sais quo when it comes to good taste and the names to show it!

Mommie and I first met this foursome on walkies - by the beach in Boundary Bay – still one of my favorite walks.  There they were, cavorting on the beach, having a good time and of course I just had to go and make friends.  Mommie spent some time talking with Mark the daddie.  If you want a French Bulldog, go to this site, there just might be a new puppy or two for you.  http://www.puppies.dpefrenchies.com/ They are so adorable… even I have to admit.

Woof dearest pet parent – gotta run now.

Don’t forget to write.

Barkfully Yours,
