Ruff! Ruff!  Good morning dearest Pet Parent ~~firstname~~

In this Issue:

HONDA FOR DOGS

Honda for you and puppy too!  Get this, according to an article
in the Vancouver Sun,  Honda has designed a car with your doggie
in mind.  Ohh, I like this!

Corgi in HondaWhen barking around with my furry buds, one of our human peeves is that it’s a bit of a challenge to get into our parent’s cars, especially
if they happen to be SUVs because they are so high off the ground.  OK… the little guys get carried in but what about the rest of us?  While young and agile a quick skip and hop is easy for the Labs, Shepherds, Weimaraners and other long legged and light breeds.  But the Bull Mastiffs, Rottweilers and others of us who are more “solid”  in build, often need a bit of a push from the behind to help us get on board.   And the giant breeds have even more of a challenge --- think of the English Mastiff! Its positively hard on the back and the gentle “push” from behind, gets more and more difficult for the pet parent to maneuver.

Lots of pet parents with SUVs and cars with hatchbacks have bought
portable ramps which make the “walk on” much easier for every
dog, even the fleet of foot as they get older.  But now Honda has designed
a car with us pooches in mind.  Take a look at this photo with the corgi,
one of our shortest legged cousins --- look at how low to the ground the
car is, how easy it is for any dog to just step in.  Woof!  For long trips,
add a doggie bed and we’re good to the next stop! I know that my California
corgi cousins, Austin and Marty would love this …. But, on second thought naaaahhh!  They’re happy being spoilt as is!!!

BOXERS AT THE AIRPORT!

Oh!  Oh!  Oh!  Mommie and I were at the airport picking up some friends
when all of a sudden we heard a lot of barking … I mean a LOT of barking, as
in lots of dogs barking.

Well we soon saw what all that hullaballoo was all about.  Passenger after
passenger came out wheeling a doggie crate --- with of course a doggie in
the crate.  Well, didn’t I quickly tug away at my lead to go and try to socialize
with my canine friends.  When I looked in to the crates, I saw Boxers, each
crate had Boxers.  I thought at first that there was a “Boxer Convention” or
something like that happening here in Vancouver that I did not know about!

Well, it turns out that these were all rescue dogs !  I woofed around with
a few of them. Of course they were all nervous.  They were all dogs that
were rescued from terrible situations and although the rescue organization
did their best to bring them back to a place of health, they were still
very nervous.  The flight was from Chicago so they were a good 4 hours
in the belly of the plane with no reassuring human to help them over their
anxiety.  I heard mommie speaking with one of the handlers, it turns out this
is a local boxer rescue group and each of these doggies now had a loving
home to go to.  When mommie and I go for walkies here in
my neighborhood, we often run into a Greyhound that is a rescue greyhound.
She is such a well behaved dog and what a beauty!

You know, if you are looking for a particular breed, look into the rescue
dog option.   This option is not for everyone, and all applicants are well….errrr…
vetted … but it just might be the right thing for you.

Kava and FritzMember Spotlight!

Happy Birthday to my min-pin cousins …. Fritz and Kava. Fritz is this month and ohmigosh, apologies to Kava, who celebrated hers last month!  Here is they are.  Don’t they look just adorable?

Doesn’t Fritz look handsome all gussied up in his tux and Kava is such a princess all dolled up in her “gown” and pearls!  I have it on good authority that both came from Barking Babies the absolute last word in “hip and chic!” and you can bet that this fashionable duo turn heads everywhere as they lead the posh pooch parade!

Arf!  Arf!  Did you know, that different languages have different sounds for the way we doggies sound?  In Japan for example, dogs speak with “wun wun” and the Japanese refer to their precious pets as “wun-chun?”

I get a lot of  “doggie” videos sent to me.  Most of them don’t appeal to me.
They tend to be on the hmmmm… crass side.  But when I got this one,
well, I chortled and laughed as did mommie.  It seems that something strange was going on.  Every time the parents left home and returned after a few hours, they found that the pool furniture was all wet.  As this kept happening time and time again and thinking that it was the neighborhood kids who were sneaking in for some water fun,  they decided to set up a cam to catch the culprit in the act.  Take a look and enjoy.

OK…. Till next time, “wan wan”

Barkfully Yours,
